Dr. Zulie Camacho

Dr. Zulie Camacho Acevedo is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist with a rich background in the practical aspects of psychology. Her educational journey began at the University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez Campus, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology. She further advanced her expertise by obtaining a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Ponce Health Sciences University, a program accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA). This accreditation signifies her training and education’s adherence to the highest standards of excellence in the field.

 

Throughout her career, Dr. Camacho Acevedo has accumulated extensive experience providing individual and family therapy to a diverse clientele, including children, adolescents, and adults. She has experience conducting neurodevelopmental, psychodiagnostic, psychometric, and psychoeducational evaluations. She has addressed a wide range of disorders, such as depression, anxiety, learning disabilities, attention deficit-hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), autism spectrum disorder, and behavioral disorders, as well as grief management and stress related to work and school challenges. Dr. Camacho Acevedo has practiced in varied settings, enriching her expertise and versatility. Her professional journey includes roles in a hospital (inpatient), community centers (outpatient), and an autism center (outpatient). During her Ph.D. training, she contributed as an assistant professor and engaged in various research projects. She presented her findings at different universities and conventions.

 

Currently, Dr. Camacho Acevedo specializes in providing individual therapy to children, adolescents, and adults via telehealth platforms. She also performs evaluations for veterans’ disability claims and workers’ compensation cases. She offers sessions in Spanish and English. She is passionately committed to serving the Hispanic/Latinx community, addressing unique challenges such as acculturation issues. Her approach to care is characterized by empathy, evidence-based practices, and a deep commitment to ensuring that each patient receives the highest standard of psychological support across their lifespan.
